Anna Apel

„ My name is Anna Apel and I am probably better known as Börni to some people. I am 16 years old and come from Munich. I have been climbing since I was 3 years old when I first went rockclimbing with my parents. From then on, climbing became my great passion and an integral part of my life. I also love being out in the mountains and nature, as well as exploring the world. Another thing I enjoy a lot is training: especially with weights in my second living room, the LLZ in Augsburg. I really spend a lot of time here. What makes me special is that I am ambitious, creative and a perfectionist. On the whole, I am a play child who loves to move and needs the exercise, no matter in which sport. On the competition side, I'm in the Bavarian and national team and I climb competitively, but that doesn't mean I can't be met outdoors rockclimbing. “

Anna
about Mantle

„ In short: Mantle Chalk is THE chalk for me. It is and remains simply the best and is therefore, along with dried mangoes (also called ascent mangoes), a "must have" for competitions and rockclimbing. Anyone who has seen me in the gym knows that I bathe in chalk and am completely white and chalked up after a session. So, too much chalk is a condition that doesn't exist. Mantle Chalk simply has the perfect consistency that I get along with best and is therefore indispensable. “

Questions to Anna

What do you usually do in your spare time?

Besides school and training, I don't often have much time, but when I do, I love to bake and try out new recipes, experiment and then make people happy and put a smile on everyone's face. I'm also very creative, so I like to tinker or sew something (creativity also helps me a lot in climbing, because I can almost always find a solution, which is why I love it so much). Furthermore, I am a bookworm and love to read interesting books that you can then philosophise about.

Give us a fun fact about you or a remarkable experience in your climbing career.

I really have a matching pair of socks for every outfit, every feeling and every situation. Each pair has a certain meaning or I bought them at a special place. I probably spend most of my pocket money on socks, so that's my little trademark.

What are your long term and/or short term goals?

My short-term goal is to get fit again in winter training and come back stronger from my injuries. As well as getting school and climbing under one roof. Of course, I also want to climb a good competition season next year and climb an 8b+. It sounds cheesy and cliché, but in all of this I don't want to lose the fun and have a good time.
